The Best March Madness Players of All Time

Have you ever wondered which players are the best to have graced the March Madness world? Well, we’ve got you covered, and below, we give you a list of some of the best March Madness players.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

If you’re looking for an award-winning basketball player, then look no further than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Jabaar was born in 1947 and played 20 seasons in the NBA as a center. During his career, Jabbar won multiple awards, including the MVP award, which he won six times. He played in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Jabbar is also a 19-time NBA All-Star, which is the most NBA All-Stars an NBA player has ever received. He also went on to become a 15-time All-NBA Team member and an 11-time NBA All-Defensive Team member.

During his career, Jabbar played the roles of player and assistant coach for six NBA championship teams. Jabbar is seen as the best NBA player and coach to have joined the NBA and was named to three anniversary teams.

Christian Laettner

Christian Donald Laettner was born in 1969 and went on to be a professional basketball player. During his college career, Laettner played for the Duke Blue Devils, which later led to him being one of the best in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Laettner earned his title by becoming a star player when he played on the back-to-back Duke National Championship teams. Laettner played for these teams during 1991 and 1992, winning himself the NCAA player of the year in his senior year.

One of Laettner’s most memorable moments was when he made his winning game shot against Kentucky during the 1992 tournament. Unfortunately, Laettner was also well known for receiving hate from fans who were part of opposing teams.

Bill Walton

If you’re looking for a professional basketball player turned television sportscaster, then you’re looking for the right guy for the job. William Theodore Walton III was born in 1952, and during his time, he worked as a television sportscaster and played basketball professionally.

During his career, Walton played for coach John Wooden and the UCLA Bruins, which later led to him winning the National College Player of the Year three consecutive times between 1972 and 1974. He did all of this while UCLA competed in the NCAA Championships and held an 8-game winning streak.

During the 1974 NBA draft, he became the first overall pick, landing himself a spot with the Portland Trail Blazers. He later led Portland to the 1977 NBA Championship, which earned him the NBA Finals MVP. In 1986, during his reign with the Boston Celtics, Walton won yet another NBA title, and in 1993 he made history by being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Magic Johnson

We couldn’t end our list without adding a little magic. Magic Johnson, born Earvin “Magic” Johnson Jr., is a former professional basketball player and one of the greatest point-guard players of all time. During his career, Johnson played 13 seasons in the NBA and was the first overall pick in the 1979 NBA draft, getting himself drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers.

This happened after winning the National Championship with Michigan State in the same year. He later led the Los Angeles Lakers to the NBA Championship five times. Unfortunately for Magic, his career took a turn in 1991; however, he rose again in 1992 and won the All-star MVP award. He then retired for four years and made a hectic comeback in 1996, playing 32 games for the Lakers.

Conclusion:

These four players are some of the best to have ever stepped onto a basketball court. From Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 19 All-Star selections and 6 MVP awards to Magic Johnson’s 5 NBA championships and multiple MVP awards, these men have made a lasting mark on the game of basketball. Their influence can still be felt today, and they are held up as examples of success and excellence. Whether you’re a fan of the NBA or not, it’s impossible to deny that these four men have accomplished something special and will go down in basketball history.
