Qatar-Health Ministry confirms the first case of the coronavirus infected in the country on Saturday.
A 36-year old Qatari man, who returned recently from Iran tested positive for the virus infection, the Health Ministry said in a press-note by the official QNA news agency, adding that he is in a stable condition.
The patient was evacuated out of Qatar on a government-chartered plane and landed at a private airport. He, along with all other passengers on that chartered flight, has been under quarantine and admitted to CDC and isolated under strict infection control measures.
With Qatar reporting the coronavirus infection, Saudi becomes the only Gulf country not to have indicated any case.
The country most affected by the outbreak in the Middle East is Iran, with 45 deaths and nearly 610 confirmed infected cases, according to Tehran’s official media.
